を使用しております収縮 ( I’m, we’re ) は、日常の会話や非公式の文章で使用されます。「短縮形」と呼ばれることもある短縮形は、通常、代名詞または名詞と動詞、または動詞と not を短い形で組み合わせたものです。通常、正式な文章では短縮形は適切ではありません。

助動詞を使って短縮します。また、助動詞でない場合は be と have を使用します。短縮形を作るとき、一般的に欠落している文字の代わりにアポストロフィを置きます。

以下は、最も一般的な収縮です。

‘m = am ( I’m )

‘re = are ( you’re, we’re, they’re )

be + 負の短縮形を 2 つの方法で使用します。

複数の短縮形は使用しません。

He’s not free.

he’sn’t free ではありません。

句の終わりに肯定的な短縮形を使用しません。

A:

I think we’re lost 。

B:

Yes, I think we are 。

ない: I think we’re

ただし、句の最後で負の短縮形を使用し、タグの質問では一般的に短縮形を使用します。

A:

You’ve contacted Jan, haven’t you?

B:

No, I haven’t 。

問題ありフォーム、 am not は aren’t に縮小されます:

I’m getting a pay rise, aren’t I?

じゃない：そうじゃない amn’t I?
